A few tips to use voicethread

To be an active Voicethreader, start by carefully working your way through a presentation. While viewing pictures and listening to the comments that have been added by other users, you should:

Gather Facts: Jot down things that are interesting and new to you
Make Connections: Relate and compare things you are viewing and hearing to things that you already know.
Ask Questions: What about the comments and presentation is confusing to you? What don’t you understand? How will you find the answer? Remember that there will ALWAYS be questions in an active thinker’s mind!
Give Opinions: Make judgments about what you are viewing and hearing. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Like? Dislike? Do you support or oppose anything that you have heard or seen? Why?
Use the following sentence starters to shape your thoughts and comments while viewing or participating in Voicethread presentations. Comments based on these kinds of statements make Voicethreads interactive and engaging.

This reminds me of…
This is similar to…
I wonder…
I realized…
I noticed…
You can relate this to…
I’d like to know…
I’m surprised that…
If I were ________, I would ______________
If __________ then ___________
Although it seems…

09-10-23 HOMEWORK

How to give rice to hungry people

We all know that some people die of hunger everyday, if you want to help them play on this website .

Click on the subjects link near the top right of the page to see a list of all subjects available at FreeRice.

There is vocabulary, math, science, geography, art history, other languages and more.

The rice is paid for by the sponsors whose names you see on the bottom of your screen when you enter a correct answer. These sponsors support both learning (free education for everyone) and reducing hunger (free rice for the hungry).

The United Nations World Food Programme distributes all of the rice that you donate to help fight hunger.

THANK YOU for your help.

09-10-04 about our classrooms

We really have to do something about our classes. They look so drab and sad.
I told you you could do beautiful posters and I would print them in as many A4 papers as needed to make a big glorious poster. It could be really nice.
Come on try these websites they are easy and funny to use. Your creations would be hung up in class and it would be so much nicer.
For a Picasso like poster.
A creative image made with coloured sand it is great fun to make.
Very clever, you just find a nice image and reproduce it, it can look lovely.
Bomomo is certainly the funniest but it does look good. It is difficult to use, at least I found it difficult to use. Well I am sure you can do better!
This is just like painting with real brushes only you don't get dirty.
And then there is piclits of course
Let us see what you can do now!
Send it to me as attached file or even files.
Remember my e-mail address: dominique.paci@ac-paris.fr

Weekly thought

A colleague sent me this, it has been made by a presumably well-meaning young seventeen year old boy. I think it is well done but is it an excellent idea or just publicity? I wonder . Watch it and tell me:
Where the boy lives, what he wants his teachers to do, where the ipods come from, what the gains will be. Can you imagine any drawbacks? Just let me know what you think.

Weekly not daily

I realised I just did not have time to give any daily thought about anything so I renamed my post to weekly hoping to keep the appointment!

I see many fascinating things everyday but this one is special and very unlike anything I have seen as yet.

You have to download the little software and it is educational but it is worth while, try it and let us know what you think, it is called Celestia:
